In the Gospel of John, as Jesus is preparing his disciples for his departure he says, If you love me . . . you will keep my commandments.
“Those who love me will keep my word and my Father will love them and we will come to them and make our home with them. (John 14: 23) Jesus even takes it one step further saying, “Whoever does NOT love me does not keep my words. (v. 24)
