The People of God in Community – Ephesians

Sunday, February 16 Traditions worship service. This short New Testament Letter to the Ephesians invites us to consider our place as part of a church family–this unlikely group of people the Holy Spirit has brought together to be God’s people in this place for this season. How are you working to help our church family tend to our work of making God’s love real? We encourage you to be inspired by reading the 6 chapters of Ephesians and join us in worship at 9am in the CLC or 11am in the Sanctuary this Sunday. Ephesians 1:1-2, 15-23 Ephesians 3:14-21; 4:1-6

Grace

Sunday, September 8 Traditions online worship service. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. – Ephesians 2:8. This Sunday, as we prepare to reengage in the With-God Life series, we pause to consider the scandal of God’s grace. From creation to salvation and discipleship, the story of scripture and of our own lives is written in the love language of grace. Throughout our history, the people called Methodists have had a particular emphasis and understanding of this grace. What does grace mean to you? How have you experienced God’s grace in your life? We hope to see you at church or online this Sunday as we gather to praise God and give thanks for grace. See you in Church! Ephesians 2:1-10

The Immanuel Principle

Sunday, September 17.  Traditions online worship service. The Bible is all about human life “with God.” It’s about how God has made this “with-God” life possible and will bring it to pass. The name Immanuel in Hebrew means “God is with us” (Isaiah 7:14) and is the name given to our Redeemer Jesus (Matthew 1:22-23). Join us as we begin this journey of the With-God Life together. Ephesians 2:19-22 Revelation 21:3

Jesus Loves Me

Sunday, August 20.  Traditions online worship service. We’re back to our This is My Song, Too series this Sunday with one of the first songs many of us learned as a child, “Jesus Loves Me.” Anna Warner’s hymn was first published in a novel written by her sister Susaner, Say and Seal, in 1860. At one point in the story a sick little boy, Johnny Fax, is comforted by his Sunday School teacher, John Linden. He rocks the child in his arms, and when Johnny asks him to sing, he begins a new song, and Anna B. Warner provides the four stanzas of this hymn. Join us this Sunday, August 20 as we sing “Yes, Jesus loves me!” John 15:9-11 Ephesians 3:14-21

Standing on the Promises

Sunday, August 6.  Traditions online worship service. This Sunday we continue our summer series on our favorite hymns and songs of faith. R. Kelso Carter was a Methodist minister, an academic professor, a physician, and he also had a military background. In 1886 he composed and published the stirring hymn “Standing on the Promises”. As we gather for worship this Sunday may we continue to stand firm in God’s living Word. Welcome to worship at White Plains UMC! Ephesians 6:10-17

Ready Ready?

Sunday, January 16  “Conversations” series.  Traditions online worship service. This Sunday we continue our series “Conversations”. How on earth do we handle accountability with Christian mercy and grace? Our Conversation this Sunday may have some insights. Romans 12:1-2 Ephesians 5:1-2 1 Peter 3:15
