The People of God in Community – Corinthians

Sunday, February 2 Traditions worship service. We continue in our With-God Life Series this week working through the genre of New Testament literature we call LETTERS. For some background information on Paul’s relationship with the church at Corinth read Acts Chapter 18. Paul lived among the Corinthian followers of Jesus for a year and a half before he moved on to start churches in other cities. But, soon after he moved on, he learned that the Corinthian community was dealing with all kinds of problems and divisions just within the church community, which is why he wrote this letter. Laity Sunday

This Sunday, January 19, we will celebrate the ministry and witness of lay persons in our congregation and everywhere. On Laity Sunday we embrace our shared vocation (lay persons and clergy) to proclaim, grow in, and embody the good news of saving love in Jesus Christ. As we welcome and offer the good news of Jesus to all, we commit to grow in love and respond to a world that needs God’s redeeming grace. Our Lay Leader Susan McCullen and Assistant Lay Leader Kenna Coley will lead us in this special service at 11am in our sanctuary. Easter Sunday – He Is Risen!

Easter Sunday, March 31 Traditions online worship service. This Easter Sunday, just like the first Easter, we show up to the tomb along with Mary and find it empty. It was only when Jesus called her name that she knew her Lord was alive! Like Mary, we find to our surprise that we are not alone. Christ is risen and he’s showing up all over the place! Lord I Lift Your Name on High

Sunday, July 9.  Traditions online worship service. This Sunday, July 9, we continue in our worship and sermon series, “This is my song, too” based on some of our congregation’s favorite hymns and worship songs. We focus on “Lord, I Lift your Name on High” from The Faith We Sing hymnal, written in 1989 by Rick Founds. During the 7 years between 1995-2002, this song remained the number-one song sung in American churches. Join us as we lift God’s name together in worship in person or online! The Old Rugged Cross

Sunday, September 4 “This Is My Song” series.  Traditions online worship service. This Sunday we continue our series on our favorite songs of Faith. The Old Rugged Cross was written by a Methodist Minister in 1913 but didn’t find its way into our hymnal until the 1960s! It remains one of the most popular hymns in church and in popular culture.
