COTS – Church on the Street schedule for May 2026 – Once again we will spend the month of May focussing on impacting our congregation, our community, and our world with the light and love of Jesus Christ. Order your Church on the Street T-shirts and wear them out anytime to let people know they are welcome at White Plains UMC.
Scheduled events for Church on the Street this year include –
Food Packaging with Rise Against Hunger – May 2 – 10am
Join us as we package 10,000 meals to help end world hunger. One of the most powerful ways to make God’s love real is to feed the hungry. The event is in the Christian Life Center at White Plains UMC from 10am to Noon on Saturday, May 2. Setup begins at 9am. Confirmation Sunday – May 3
Beer and Hymns at Fortnight – May 10 – 7pm
Food Distribution – May 16 – 10am
Volunteers will gather in the parking lot to unload food beginning at 8:30. The distribution starts at 10am and generally lasts about 1 hour. Besides distribution volunteers, we are always looking for those who feel comfortable being translators, and praying with, and/or greeting our guests. Raleigh Council Bond Meeting, in support of affordable housing- May 19, 7:00 pm
Pentecost Sunday with combined worship at 11am in the CLC – May 24
Durham Bulls Game – May 24 – 5pm
Take me out to the Ballgame! Invite your friends and family to White Plains UMC night at the Durham Bulls.
We have reserved a party deck for the Bulls home game on Sunday, May 24 at 5:00 pm. Doors open at 4:00 pm and our choir will be singing the National Anthem just before gametime. Your cost of $35 includes your ticket and a buffet dinner with water and Pepsi products. The Menu is chicken or pork bbq, beef hot dogs, mac & cheese, coleslaw and chips. There are also veggie burgers!
Missions Yard Sale – May 30 – setup on May 29
Friday May 29 is donations drop-off from 9 AM till 8 PM.
Volunteers will accept and sort donations. We will NOT accept ADULT size clothes.
Saturday May 30 we will welcome our shoppers from 8 AM till 12:30 PM. Volunteers will help keep displays neat and assist our guests as needed.
We need lots of volunteers and encourage you to sign up as a family.

Church on the Street Sunday – wear your T-shirts! May 31
Get your order in now for our new Church on the Street Vámonos – Go into all the world White Plains T-shirt in a stone-washed Amethyst color! Vámonos means – Let’s Go! This is a comfortable, soft-feeling T-shirt with a brand-new design. We hope to have everyone wearing them for Church on the Street Sunday, May 31.
