White Plains United Methodist Church is a Disciple-Making Church on Mission for Christ. What that means for our community is that we are here to meet your needs in any way we possibly can. We do not try to be all things to all people, but we will do our best to connect you to other ministries and services in the area that do provide the services which may be beyond our capacity. We do not require worship attendance, membership, or any other proof in order to be supported by these ministries.
The Food Pantry serves by providing food to families and individuals in need. Our purpose is to share God’s love, without discrimination, in a visible and tangible way.
Family Promise is a private, nonprofit agency for Wake County combating homelessness. Professional staff provides families with daily, individual case management at a Day Center on Method Road. Each evening, two churches provide shelter, meals, and transportation to up to five families each, serving up to ten families every night in the program. WPUMC is one of 32 host churches in the area.
Sisters in Support is a faith-based support group for women who have had breast cancer, have been recently diagnosed, or are currently undergoing treatment.
Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them. Any adult who is hurting and in need of Christian care can seek a Stephen Minister.
The Appalachia Service Project (ASP) is a home repair/home building ministry. ASP responds to the housing needs of economically disadvantaged people in Appalachia using a Christian perspective.
Semillas de Amor (Seeds of Love) is a Hispanic families program that pairs tutors 1:1 with a focus on students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Harvest of Love (Cosecha de Amor) tutoring program serves Middle and early High School youth at White Plains. This new program is an offshoot of the Seeds Of Love Program.
