HELP (Hands Engaged in Local Projects) is a home repair ministry of the WPUMC Outreach committee. The ministry team works on projects for members of our congregation, for members of our community, and on our church campus. Thus far projects have included wheelchair ramps, building and repairing decks, replacing siding, and installing exterior doors. HELP project materials are funded by the Outreach budget and all labor is donated by volunteers. History of HELP
HELP was originally conceived as a part of our Spiritual Strategic Journey (SSJ) Future Story Narrative on how White Plains can be a missional church. A disciple is a student, follower, and emulator of Christ. Jesus didn’t spend ALL His time worshipping, absorbing Scripture, and praying – so we can’t either! In fact, although Jesus was immersed in these activities, what we remember and love most about Him are the ACTIONS He took with and for the people – the healing, feeding, preaching, teaching, and ultimately the giving of His life for us. So we too must constantly be engaged in a cycle of worship, study and equipping, prayer, and then SERVICE.
