Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 6:00pm in the Chapel. This is an event for all ages including families and we will even have pancake races for the kids!
Shrove Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. The word shrove is the past tense of the English verb shrive, which means to obtain forgiveness for one’s sins through confession and penance. Pancakes became the food of choice for this pre-Lenten feast so that rich ingredients such as eggs, milk, and sugar could be used up before the start of fasting during the season of Lent.
