Today, many people are searching for an alternative to ground burial that offers beauty and simplicity. Cremation with memorialization is one alternative. We believe that inurnment on church grounds is a statement of our faith in the resurrection, the life everlasting, and the church triumphant.
A memorial garden was built in 2008 as a sacred addition to our church campus. The Memorial Garden is a perpetual memorial for family members of White Plains and includes 124 niches, 76 memorial plaques, as well as a memorial fountain, memorial benches and appropriate landscaping. A niche is a small vault in which urns containing cremation remains are stored. The reservation of niches, like the reservation of cemetery plots, makes them self-perpetuating and permanently maintained. Memorial Plaques may be used for the dedication of people whose remains are not inurned in a Memorial Garden niche.
As a Sacred Place, the Memorial Garden is ideal for quiet contemplation. Individuals and small groups are welcome to enter through the Gate for a time of prayer or meditation. Hear the water splash in the fountain, enjoy the plants and peaceful surroundings. Rest on the benches. Give Thanks and Praise for God’s Creation, find Peace and Comfort in Confession, Speak with God about Special Concerns, Listen to the Lord, Depart Blessed by your Time with the Holy Spirit.
