Transportation Committee

Transportation Committee's Purpose

As a sub-committee of the Trustees, the Transportation Committee is responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the White Plains UMC vehicle fleet. The purpose of the fleet is to aid the congregation of White Plains UMC in accomplishing it’s vision and mission.

The current fleet consists of:

  1. A red Dodge passenger van (Red Van) ideal for the transportation of driver and up to 10 passengers. Also ideal for  moving cargo (passenger seats are removable)
  2. A Chevy van based 15 passenger light duty bus (Turtle Top, aka. Old Shuttle) suited for carrying passengers without luggage
  3. A Chevy van based 15 passenger dual wheeled bus (Startans, aka. New Shuttle) suited for carrying passengers with luggage

Vehicles use is governed by the Vehicle Use Policy some of which is summarized here:

  • Used by members of White Plains UMC for any Church related function
  • Use requires a confirmed reservation,  made in writing (e-mail preferred), from the Church Office
  • Driver must be qualified by the Transportation Committee as outlined in the Vehicle Use Policy
  • Only qualified drivers can make reservations
  • Users are responsible to pay for any gasoline used 
  • Vehicle use report must be completed
