Stephen Ministry Training Class Schedule

 Stephen Ministry Training Class of 2011-2012 

October 17, 2011- March 2012 

Class meets weekly from 6:45-9:15pm, with breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There will also be two retreats during the training.

 Christian Caregiving (book)
 Mental Health Resources (book) 

There are Required Weekly Reading Assignments prior to each class in preparation for skill practice sessions related to the readings of that week. 

Each class is vital to the training of a Stephen Minister, so class and retreat attendance is very important and expected. 

Time Commitment: 

A Stephen Minister commits to serve two years in the ministry. Included in that two years is:

• Training Classes for 50+ hours (October-March)
• Supervision / Continuing Education Meetings every 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month
• Participation in a Bible study of choice (Stephen ministers have a Bible Study group available)
• Weekly meetings with a Care Receiver (1-1/12 hrs per session)
• Participation in other SM activities (i.e. Sanctuary ministry, Staff appreciation)
•  Optional opportunities (i.e.- Healing Services, Prayer chapel for holiday Food Distributions, SM Network Continuing Education classes)

If you are feeling the Lord calling you into this caring ministry, there are information and application packets at the Hospitality Desk in the Sanctuary lobby and in the Carpenters Shop for you to prayerfully read and complete. Applications will be due by October 1, and the interview process will begin thereafter.
