How to Pray

Prayer is a conversation with God. There is no right or wrong way to do it, but here is a way to get you started. It is called the A.C.T.S. model where each letter stands for an aspect of prayer.

A

Adoration or worship. This is a time to praise God. You can use a Christian CD or sing a hymn or use the Psalms. Some good ones are 19, 29, 33, 34, 47, 50, 76, 87, 91, 93, 95, 96, 99, 100, 104, 107, 111, 113, 114, 115, 117, 121, 134, 139, 145, 146, 147, 148, and 150.

C

Confession. This is a time to agree with God that you have fallen short of His holy standard, with confidence that He will be faithful to forgive your sin based on your faith that Jesus died in your place for your sins and that God raised Him from the dead.

T

Thanksgiving. This is a time to thank God for all the good gifts He has given us.

S

Supplication. This is a time to make specific requests in prayer, both for others and for yourself.
