Through the generosity of our congregation, White Plains sends work teams to aid members of United Methodist churches in Saint Ann's Bay, Jamaica. Working together with the community, the team reaches out to build a physical and spiritual bond between the congregations of our respective churches.
During the week, the work team enjoys reaching out to children by hosting sing alongs and puppet shows at schools and churches. Hands on projects are done each year. In 2002, we helped build the fellowship hall at Saint Ann's Bay and set the foundation for a water shed.
White Plains sends missions teams to countries in need. Over the past 10 years we have sent 2 teams to Jamaica and 2 teams to Peru. The missions teams are involved with local churches and usually contribute (both financial and physical labor) to a local mission project. This program offers the opportunity to work with fellow Christians from a different culture and to bond closely with a team of White Plains members during an inspiring week of labor, witness, and love.
