Part 1: Join us in this 5-week interactive study called “Fasting: Opening the door to a deeper, more intimate, more powerful relationship with God.” New York Times best-selling author Jentezen Franklin will take us through the practice and reward of fasting. This class will take you through the basics of this spiritual discipline and provide you the tools and motivation for making fasting an integral part of your spiritual walk. This is a first of a two part Bible Study. The second part of this Bible Study is strongly recommended ONLY if you feel the Lord leading/calling you through the Holy Spirit to continue in the corporate prayer fast as the second part of this course.

Part 2: 40 day corporate prayer fast during Lent; experience for yourself the deeper, stronger relationship with God that comes through prayer and fasting. Those who feel led of the Holy Spirit to be a part of this prayer fast will covenant together to pray for our lives, our families, our church, and our community. During these 40 days we will meet for corporate prayer time and experience new forms of prayer weekly. Please note: This is only a prayer fast this corporate prayer fast does not include fasting from food.

In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any other New Testament book. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer.

GriefShare is a weekly, Christ-centered grief recovery support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close. Each week we will view a video on a grief topic led by experts in the field, followed by a time for discussion and support. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You’ll find people who understand the emotions and struggles of the grief process. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you on your grief journey. The next GriefShare group will meet at White Plains UMC beginning on Thursday, January 5, from 7:00-9:00pm in Room C205. We will meet for 13 weeks. There is a $12.00 registration fee which includes the workbook. Child care is available by advance request. This is a three session study that meets for an in depth discussion on: “Who is God?” & “Who is Jesus? “ & “Why the Church?” If you have questions or have been wondering about the need for or importance of any of these topics this short course is for you. If you are new to Christianity you will also find this course helpful in answering some of your questions. Dinner snack will be provided.

Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha course usually meets once per week for 10 weeks, and includes an amazing one-day or weekend getaway. Each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere where no question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile…questions like—Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going?
