    Position Description:
    Responsible for primary pastoral care including: Teaching Ministry, Priestly Ministry, Prayer Ministry, Visitation Ministry, Counseling Ministry and Extension Ministry. Responsible for executive administration including: Staff supervision, staff evaluation, staff deployment, Ministry planning, organizational supervision, denominational participation, community relations, and serves as the Chief Administrative Officer. Responsible for worship leadership including: Worship planning for the 8:20, 9:45, and 11:00 services. Order of service, sermon preparation, preaching, worship team meetings, special services, and printed material for services. Oversees total program of ministries Responsible for leadership development including: Visioning, futuring and strategic planning. Facilitating congregational dialogue. Lay leadership recruitment, training, deployment, encouragement and evaluation. Spiritual maturity of members. Financial health and stewardship of the congregation.

    Pastor Ray has been at White Plains since July 2006.  Previously he has served pastorates at Fuquay-Varina UMC; Swansboro UMC; St. Luke UMC, Goldsboro; Queen St. UMC, Kinston (as Minister of Discipleship); Rainbow UMC; Rocky Mount Parish UMC; and First UMC in Roanoke Rapids (as Associate Pastor).

    Ray is a native of Kinston, NC and graduated from Kinston High School, East Carolina University and Duke University Divinity School.  In addition to ministry at White Plains, he enjoys serving on the North Carolina Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.

    Ray is married to Melissa, who loves her job as an Art teacher at Wake Christian Academy.  At White Plains, she especially enjoys her ministry with the Crafters' Guild and the fellowship of her Emmaus Reunion Group.

    Oldest daughter, Kristin, anticipates her wedding in June 2009.  She enjoys her work at the Fuquay-Varina UMC Child Care Center.

    Twin daughters, Leah and Lauren, are seniors at Wake Christian Academy.  Both enjoy youth activities at White Plains.  Leah enjoys singing with the youth choir and Lauren with the New Spirit Praise Team.
