Jamie plays keyboard the Praise Team. He is also a composer, arranger, and tenor vocalist.
Jamie Montoya was born October 2nd, 1971. At age 5 he asked Christ into his heart at Pope Drive Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina. After he finished saying his prayer of salvation, he turned to his parents and said, “Mom, Dad, God wants me to do something in music”. Jamie’s parents started taking him to piano lessons.
Through the years Jamie continued studying piano even playing in competitions and guilds. In high school, Jamie inherited his sister’s position of being the church pianist when she left for college. Jamie enjoyed 3 years of leading the congregation on Sunday mornings in worship, then went on to study music at Western Michigan University. From there Jamie continued his education at the University of Wisconsin (Marshfield) where he focused more on vocal training.
Jamie moved to Raleigh where he soon began volunteering his piano playing for the contemporary service at Highland United Methodist Church. Jamie enjoyed 5 years of volunteering at Highland until he was hired at White Plains in January of 2006.
