| To respond to NCCUMC disaster alerts using our Church
Host Team to notify members of our church and residents in nearby
communities who are in the like impact zone or who have been impacted
by the disaster. This team takes timely actions to protect our church
and its physical and religious assets and works closely with the trustees,
our Pastors, staff members, and others.
The Church Host Team and supporting volunteers assist in providing
temporary lodging and feeding of emergency work teams at our church.
The Early Response Teams inspect damaged residences and make them
temporarily safe, sound, and secure. They provide other limited
assistance to victims, coordinating with the Raleigh District UMC
and MERCI in Goldsboro.
The Early Recovery Team, with technical oversight from MERCI, assists
homeowners by making authorized repairs to their damaged residences.
All teams maintain MERCI technical proficiency through approved
training done at White Plains and when 6 or more new members join.
Specialized training is also available at the MERCI facility in
Goldsboro.
I encourage members of other outreach ministries to join one of
our teams. We can use your knowledge, skills and abilities, and
we'll work with you to avoid any conflicts in your schedule.
Please weigh your God given talents and join this very special
outreach ministry. Pick up the yellow application form from the
church lobby and know that your faith in Jesus Christ is measured
indeed by the works you do.
