White Plains United Methodist Church
seeks to be a
Christ-Centered, Kingdom Building community of faith.
We believe in One God, eternally existing in three persons
—Father, Son and Holy Spirit ,
the source of all
life, creator of heaven and earth,
giver of grace upon
grace.
We believe in One true and living Father , God
Almighty, holy and forgiving,
the source
of all goodness, beauty and truth,
infinite in wisdom,
power and love.
We believe in One Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God ,
fully human, fully divine,
the source of our
salvation and eternal life,
who was born of
the Virgin Mary and lived a sinless life among us,
died on the cross
as an atoning sacrifice for our sin,
rose to life, sits
now at the right hand of God,
and will come again
in judgment and glory.
We believe in One Holy Spirit , God present dwelling
with and within us--
the source of our
unity and power for ministry,
our guide, helper,
and comforter,
who makes us aware
of sin, righteousness and judgment.
We believe in One Church, the body of Christ,
the community of witnesses,
the extension of Christ’s life and work,
the source of our
life together in the Spirit,
as we are called
to worshipful living,
holiness of heart
and life,
and sacrificial
service.
We believe in One Inspired Word of God, The Holy
Bible, comprising the Old and New
Testaments,
the primary source
of God’s self-revelation to us,
the sufficient rule
of faith and practice.
We believe in One Salvation, the gift of undeserved
grace
that is received
by faith in Christ.
We believe that
humankind was created for a relationship with God,
separated from Him
by sin, and reconciled with God only through repentance,
faith and trust
in Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 4:4-6 (NRSV)
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were
called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one
baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through
all and in all.”
From The Message -- The Bible in Contemporary
Language
“You were all called to travel on the same road
and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and
inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one
God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and
is present in all. Everything you are and think and
do is permeated with oneness.”
