Welcome to the Health Ministry program at White Plains UMC. The
mission of Health Ministry is to empower people, through the process
of integrating the mind, body, and spirit, to achieve wholeness,
health and a sense of well-being. Health Ministry strives to bring
the Spirit of God back into the healing process where it belongs.
Health Ministry is educating, providing resources, listening, coordinating
medical and psychological care, monitoring health, and just being
there for whatever we can do to help you achieve and maintain spiritual
and physical health. Health Ministry augments, but does not replace,
many of the other ministries within the church.
Health Ministry is headed by the Parish Nurse, who, along with
the Health Cabinet, provides this type of care to the congregation.
A Parish Nurse is a registered nurse who has gone through training
in Parish (Congregational) Nursing, and can be either a paid staff
member, a volunteer, or a hybrid of both. Here at White Plains,
the Parish Nurse is a volunteer.
Please see the Connections
newsletter for information on upcoming events. Feel free to call
the church office if there is anything you feel we could do to help
you, if you have any comments, suggestions, or questions about this
ministry, or if you would like to help with the Health Ministry
program. Thank you all at White Plains for this opportunity to serve
you.
Parish Nurse.
